Preferably on the first page.
As I mentioned earlier, the search engine ranking battle is relatively brutal and unforgiving.
You either win or lose.
There’s no in-between.
I am a blogger and I love creating content.
Due to life intervention, I am not able to create as many contents as I would have wanted to.
At the time of writing, this blog that you are landing right now has approximately 69 posts.
Honestly, there are a few articles that achieved a first-page ranking on Google.
Based on my discovery with Google Search Console, most of my website's visitors are coming from the top rankings articles that get ranked on the first page of the search engines.
For those articles that are not hitting the bingo moments, it’s heartbreaking to see very little to zero visitors at all.
That’s why I felt the need to write this content to show you that it’s possible to rank high on the first page, it’s achievable and I am one of the living proof that it’s doable.
So are you ready to discover my personal approach to achieve first page and first spot ranking on Google?
Let’s grab yourself a cup of coffee and we will dive right in shortly.
Are you ready to continue?
Let’s dive right in.
Write Lengthy Helpful Contents
If you think that those words don’t matter much when it comes to ranking, then you are having the wrong mindset.
Now, it doesn’t mean that you need to brainstorm to come out with as many words as possible for your blog posts.
Instead, you should write naturally with the main focus of providing relevant and helpful content for your readers.
Write as much as you can by providing values.
Think of how you can help your audience, it could be answers, solutions, satisfactions.
So on and so forth.
When you are able to accomplish this, the search engine will reward you with better ranking authority.
As a result, you will be gaining better traction within the search engine ranking battle.
Ideally, the minimum words count should be at least 1500, and when you are writing genuinely and wholeheartedly for your readers, the words will add up naturally.
The core focus of your content should be providing values and solutions, that's one of the key components of gaining traction.
Personally, I would skip those boring narrative, your audience might care and they might not.
That’s the whole mystery part when it comes to audience behavior, as everyone behaves differently.
But one thing for sure is that your audience is hungry for the solution and they want it fast.
If their search intent is to seek factual information, for example, they search for a query on how to cure insomnia naturally, then understandably, your audience would be visiting websites such as WebMD.
That’s because they are subconsciously informed that this is the best place to seek for genuine factual information.
Remember Your Alt Text
Graphics and images play a big role in showcase an authoritative online presence.
It’s no secret that social media platforms such as Pinterest are phenomenally successful.
That’s because people love media contents, they love to consume content visually.
Also, our brain absorbs imagery information faster and more efficiently compared to raw text.
However, the search engines might not fully understand what your images are all about.
You can name the imagery files appropriately, but it’s still an artificial intelligence crawler bot, right?
Thankfully, there’s this alt text part where you can describe what are these images all about with relevancy.
That way, the search engines bot will be able to identify the exact meaning of the images within your content.
For example, if you are writing a blog post about weight loss.
Naming and describing a specific infographic an alt text with "10 tips on how to lose belly fat without dieting", accompanied with actionable workout routine and recommended practical healthy lifestyle.
The alt text example shown above is more than enough to show the search engines what the particular image is trying to convey.
Here’s how you can write your alt text within your WordPress admin dashboard.
Whenever you are adding images to your self hosted WordPress server, you can either do that by dragging and dropping your desired files, or you can select the files manually.
The old school way.
There’s this text field column that says alt text.
Here’s what it looks like.
Make Sure Your Website Is Optimized For Mobile Responsiveness
Here’s the thing my friends, people barely look into one another in the eyes anymore.
Instead, they are looking at their smartphone screens most of the time.
Now, I am sure a large portion of your website's visitors are using their smartphone to access your content.
That’s why it’s essential to optimize and making sure your content is fully optimized for mobile devices.
Many of the standalone WordPress visual editors allow their users to inspect the responsiveness of each resolution individually, all in real-time.
For example, I am using Thrive Architect to craft out content.
Right within the editor mode, there are three specific resolutions where I can customize and check for responsiveness.
Here’s what I just meant.
As you can see, this awesome plugin enables me to check for desktop, tablet and smartphone resolution respectively.
A pretty awesome visual editor that eases the content creation and the overall optimization.
Resize The Font Appropriately To Ease Readability
Even though your written contents aren't as lengthy as novels, they are still relatively lengthy, from the perspective of website contents and your readers.
Unless you are lazy to create quality content, if you are creating quality and engaging quality content, I am sure the final piece of the written content will be well over a thousand to few thousands word counts.
On average, my written contents are within the two thousand to three thousand words.
That’s quite a lot of reading presuming my readers like and enjoy consuming the written content.
Personally, I set the font size of the text at 20 pixels.
I found this to be the best and ideal font size to enhance readability so that my readers can consume the contents flawlessly.
Present Your Content In Black Text And White Background
Sometimes, simplicity is the way to go when it comes to maximizing productivity that drives results.
Colorful text might seems to be very enticing visually, but then it ruins readability to a certain extent.
An extent that is enough to make your visitors leaving your website.
I am sure you certainly don’t want to be in that position.
It's proven that the most reader-friendly website contents are written in black text with a white background.
Follow this approach and you are good to go.
The Essentiality Of Keyword Research Is Vital And It’s Unneglectable
With so many keyword research products available on the market, it’s easy to get overwhelmed sometimes.
The keyword research tool that I recommend is Jaaxy as I’ve mentioned earlier on.
It’s simplified with relatively accurate data.
Before we touch on keyword research, you might ask me why it’s so essential to do keyword research?
"How am I going to predict the search queries that are being searched in real-time"?
Well, these are good questions.
To answer your question honestly, no, we can’t know exactly all the search queries that are happening, as there are billions of searches done daily.
But then, there’s a pattern that keyword research tools are capable of identifying.
It’s the search queries that were performed previously that can be used as a reference to optimize your content marketing.
In my opinion, these data are relatively helpful when it comes to the probability and the chances of ranking within the search engines.
Based on my personal experience, I can rank on the first page and the first spot on Google with the help of keyword research.
That’s why I am here to reconfirm to you that this is the process that is critically essential for your online business.
Do not skip the keyword research part as you will be reaping huge rewards in the long term.
If you trust me and if you trust the Jaaxy keyword research tool, I do recommend you to check out my comprehensive guide on how to do keyword research like a pro with Jaaxy!
Patience Is One Of The Major Factors, It Takes Time
Let’s face it.
There's no overnight success in everything that we do in life.
That’s an inevitable fact.
We just have to accept and live with it.
Let me illustrate this scenario to you.
Say you are impressed with a girl, and you like her very much.
It all started with getting to know each other.
Then you build up a relationship over time.
With patience, she will consent you to touch and hold her hands one day.
I’m sure this special moment doesn’t come right away.
The takeaway part of this illustration is that it’s the same principle that applies to search engine ranking.
Let me show you what I just meant.
Here’s the screenshot of the page one position one ranking for the specific post.
As you can see, this content was written back in March 2019.
It gets indexed and ranked relatively quick after I published the post.
I believe it was initially ranked on the fifth page on Google.
The ranking climbs up gradually with time and at the time of writing, it’s ranked on the top spot on page one.
This is proof that you need to give time for your written content to gain trust and authority.
I guess it’s very similar to the case of chasing the girl that you love.
It takes time for her to trust and gain a good impression on you before the magical moment happens!
You Need To Be A Doer, That Means An Action Taker With The Right Mental Approach
Since childhood, I was introduced to this famous quote
“Actions Speak Louder Than Words.” by one of my uncles.
He said to me” don’t just talk, you got to do it, do it and show me what you are capable of.”.
A lesson learned since then.
Yeah, ultimately, it’s actions that drive you to achieve a big success in everything that you do in life.
Without taking the necessary actions, miracles don’t just come by themselves.
You are a clever person, I am sure you have this aspect covered.
Next, how about equipping yourself with the right mentality?
Well, with the right mindset, you can conquer the mountains!
You can tame the fiercest obstacles that come your way.
Here’s the famous quote by one of my favorite sportsmen Sebastian Vettel.
“It’s the mentality that mostly responsible for whether you are successful or not.”
Beautiful, isn't it?
It’s not by chance that he is the quadruple Formula One world champion.
Equip yourself with the right mentality and you will be ready to conquer anything!
The Numbers Do Matter, And They Matter A Lot
It’s all about the numbers right?
Would you not agree?
In the world of online business where content creation plays a vital role in achieving maximum success, the numbers do matter.
It’s pretty much self-explanatory.
For example, say you can publish 5 articles weekly, you will be publishing 20 articles monthly.
That translates to 240 published articles yearly!
That's an enormous amount of contents published on your website!
With numbers like that, it’s impossible not to see page one ranking regularly.
That's also the moment when your business starts to take off at an unstoppable pace!
From then on, it’s all about scaling your business to a greater height with even more published contents.
Many online marketers and content creators tend to fail by not fully comprehend the importance of publishing content consistently.
It’s a simple thing to master and yet sadly, this is the part that traps and catches the majority from not progressing.
Adding Internal And External Links Within Your Content
Whenever you are browsing a website reading a content,
I am sure you’ve seen underlined colored texts.
These are called internal and external links in the world of online content publishing.
Well, when you are writing content for your readers, you should practice the actions of linking internally as well as externally.
Internal linking means linking to a specific post or page within your website.
External linking means linking to a page outside of your website.
Ideally, you don’t want to overuse this technique as it could potentially affect the user experience on your website.
Also, do keep in mind that the linked sources must be relevant to the context of your content and the message you want to convey.
Often, I have observed many content creators doubting their ability or they are reluctant to believe in themselves that gaining good ranking is accomplishable.
Even worse, some are completely staying away from taking actions at all.
Here are the most common reasons they provide.
“ There are too many competitions, how am I be certain that the contents that I write will be deemed valuable in the eyes of the search engines"?
"I doubt what I write will be ranked.”
Now, If you are still doubting on yourself, I suggest you trash these negativities right away.
Rather, you should start working even harder instead of keep doubting that slows down productivity.
It doesn’t do any good for your business.
I am the best proof that these tips that I just shared with you work.
They work for me as I have achieved a marvelous good ranking result.
The last thing to take note is that the tips that I provided here are merely for your reference to quadruple your pace of gaining good ranking, which ultimately will lead to increased productivity and profits.
They are not guaranteed methods of achieving the first page and the first spot ranking by all means.
The reasons are because the search engines implement a universe of quality evaluations individually for every online publishers.
Results vary individually as well.
With faith and taking actions consistently, I am sure you will start to see positive ranking sooner rather than later.
Trust in yourself that great things are accomplishable.
